CLINICIAN- ACCESS CENTERThe Access Center Clinician provides evaluation and therapy services to those seeking treatment for substance abuse related concerns at the APT Foundation.  The Clinician is a member of a treatment team that works under the supervision of the Assess Center Director.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Completes intakes and comprehensive psychosocial evaluations in accordance with APT policy.  Provides group, individual, and family therapy services.  Works to support all Access Center activities including admission services, clinical programming and the treatment milieu of the outpatient therapy services.  Attends weekly staff meetings to review clinical issues, share ideas, and monitor quality of clinical services.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  Master’s degree in Social Work or comparable field and licensed or licensed eligible by the State of Connecticut. LADC highly desirable.  At least two years of substance abuse treatment experience is required.  Experience in evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of addictive and psychiatric disorders is preferred.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability is highly desirable.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT (MRU)Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator or Principal Investigator works with staff at the Legion Avenue Methadone Clinic and other research and treatment components to recruit eligible clients; describes study to clients and obtains informed consents; conducts the research intake and post-treatment assessments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or other related area, or may consider equivalent combination of education and experience.  Interest in working with substance abusers or HIV positive patients.  Excellent clinical interview and computer skills essential.  Other essential skills include maturity, flexibility, and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team, organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN - RSD:  The Residential Services Technician provides case management services to adults and/or adolescent residents of the APT Residential Services Division seeking treatment for substance abuse related concerns.  The Technician is a member of a treatment team that works under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Associates degree in Human Services or comparable field and/or two years of substance abuse or mental health treatment experience.  Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, families, staff members, and referral sources.  Must be able to organize and manage multiple tasks.  Must be able to analyze a situation and demonstrate good judgment to arrive at a solution utilizing appropriate resources.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability is highly desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in accounting and at least two years experience in preparation of budgets and financial reports, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Experience with computer based accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, databases and word processing required.  Organizational skills, initiative, and willingness to learn a must.

COMPONENT DIRECTOR (AMBULATORY SERVICES CENTER):  The Component Director is accountable for the environment in which access to care and therapy services are provided. The Director works in conjunction with and under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, and provides both clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. The Director ensures ongoing collaboration with other Directors throughout the APT system and provides clinical supervision for clinical review, triage decisions, assessments, evaluations, disposition planning, and therapy services of all patients served within the Ambulatory Services Center. The Director acts as a role model for the staff and clinicians and provides clinical services as a leader in teaching other staff members. The Director ensures that ongoing liaison occurs with the patient, the patient’s families, referral sources, and collaborative community providers or agencies.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Licensed Ph.D Psychologist, Licensed Psy.D., or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of five years clinical experience and two years of administrative experience in a substance abuse program. Additional LADC credential is highly desirable. Experience with outreach to minority communities is highly desirable.

STAFF NURSE (AMBULATORY SERVICES CENTER): The Staff Nurse, under the direct supervision of the Component Director, serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team, providing services to patients in the Opiate Replacement Treatment Program.  Assumes responsibility for dispensing medication, supervising control of medication, and monitors self administration of medication for patients in the Opiate Replacement Treatment Program. Fosters development of teamwork with co-workers toward achievement of departmental goals.
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Connecticut Licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.  Prior experience in substance abuse or mental health nursing.

One year’s experience in the substance abuse field, or an equivalent of education and experience. Knowledge of counseling principles and techniques. Familiarity with physiological, psychological, sociological, and economic effects of substance abuse dependence.
