The Research Assistant II, MRU, under the direct supervision of the Director of the Methadone Research Unit, co-manages the daily operations of the research clinic with some latitude for independent judgment. This includes ensuring that clinic procedures are followed, scheduling staff, and troubleshooting as necessary. The Research Assistant is also a team member of the PM-CBT, Project RED and Project BRIGHT studies. In this capacity will schedule new admissions and follow-ups, administer intake and follow-up assessments, and perform outreach activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or other related area, or may consider equivalent combination of education and experience. Interest in working with substance abusers or HIV positive patients. Excellent clinical interview and computer skills essential. Other essential skills include maturity, flexibility, and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team, organizational skills and attention to detail.
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week.

CLINIC SECURITY OFFICER (PER DIEM)
The Clinic Security Officer, under direct supervision of the Assistant Director and the general supervision of the Director of Methadone Services, and in consultation with the Supervisor of Clinic Security, serves as a member of the security staff at the clinic. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year experience in a security position preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Hours: 5am-10am, 10am-2:30pm (Mon.-Fri.); and 6am-12:30pm (Sat. & Sun.)

NIGHT COUNSELOR (RESIDENTIAL SERVICES DIVISION)
The Night Counselor is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and works under the direction of the Overnight Supervisor. The Night Counselor provides basic supervision, clinical support and crisis intervention services to adult residents in the residential therapeutic community on the third shift. Ensures safety, security and well-being of residents and property. Enables continuity of care through communication with staff on other shifts.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE: Dependability regarding attendance, punctuality and consistency. Capable of handling resident behavior and emergency situations. Familiarity with substance abuse treatment and/or residential care. Able to set and maintain appropriate boundaries and limits with adults. Experience with basic medical emergency practices (i.e., first aid, CPR, etc.) helpful.
Hours: 11pm – 7am, five nights a week, may include rotating weekends.

EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST (APT VOCATIONAL SERVICES)
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Vocational Services, the Employment Specialist works as part of the clinical team to provide non-traditional vocational rehabilitation to clients with multiple barriers to employment. Conducts applicant interviews, assesses current skill level of clients and assists clients to identify transferable skills and/or training opportunities. Assists individuals to understand and overcome social, economic and/or emotional problems that pose a barrier to employment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in human services and/or or 3 years of work experience in vocational rehabilitation, job development, job coaching desired. Familiarity with substance abuse and mental health issues necessary. Good communication skills both oral and written.

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Facilities, the facilities technician is responsible for APT Residential Services physical plant operations, safety and security, space assessment and planning, maintenance/janitorial services and related functions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Must have a valid State of Connecticut Plumbing or Electrical license. Must have a high school education with a minimum of five years experience in the field of maintenance. Must have a valid State of Connecticut driver’s license. Working knowledge of a therapeutic community highly desirable.
