DAYTOP - APT
Residential Services Division Population Served - DAYTOP is designed to serve individuals who have chronic substance abuse or
relapse histories. Adult men and women over the age of 18 who have long standing serious substance
abusing problems, legal entanglement related to a drug-using lifestyle, or dysfunctional family situations
resulting from drug or alcohol abuse constitute the majority of the resident population.
Treatment Expectations -
Individuals entering treatment at DAYTOP can expect to be immersed in a
therapeutic milieu where they will be challenged to examine dysfunctional life patterns. They can expect to
be confronted by peers and staff on a daily basis to develop skills of self-control
related to impulses and
cravings, to learn appropriate methods of conflict resolution and to function as a contributing and
responsible member within the community. The modality of choice is group therapy, and a resident can
expect to participate in numerous groups throughout the week.
Special Services - The basic program is supplemented with an array of professional services
if needed. These include services which address trauma issues, family problems
and educational or vocational deficits.
Hours of Operation -
DAYTOP is a residential treatment facility in operation twenty-four hours a day,
365 days a year. Admissions are scheduled, and there is often a waiting list.
Professional Staff-
DAYTOP clients benefit from a multi-disciplinary team approach. Professionally
trained staff include Licensed or Certified Substance Abuse Counselors, Social Workers, Marriage and
Family Therapists, Nurses, and Psychiatric and Medical consultants.
Who provides what Treatment - Each resident is assigned to a Care Manager, responsible for coordination of treatment; and a Therapist, responsible for assessment and individual therapy at the level of care deemed appropriate to the individual's needs. The counseling staff, consists of Licensed/Certified Substance Abuse counselors, and non-degreed/ certified counselors who have been trained in the TC Model. They are responsible for management of the therapeutic milieu, groups, and support services. The medical staff, consisting of nurses, a consulting medical doctor, and a consulting psychiatrist. The educational and vocational staff, consisting of teachers and vocational counselors, provide services directed at completion of High School Equivalency requirements, vocational assessments, employment readiness training and assistance in seeking employment.
